#VeloDate - Kent, England (howl_hemulen)

Posted: May 12 2015

If you only had one day in your city to help someone fall in love with you, where would you take them? Who would you introduce them to? What would you want them to experience?

As part of our global and summer long #VeloDate project we asked lifestyle photographer Henry El'Day (@howl_hemulen) of Kent, England to share with us what that one special day would look and feel like for him.

Here is Henry’s lookbook.

Setting off

Starting the day right with coffees at Water Lane Café.

Looking over (the river)

Sun gracing England with its presence as it sometimes does

The Burgate Bicycle Co.

Wandering the back streets of cobbles and wisteria

Welcoming a rest at Willow's Secret Kitchen

Lemon, ginger and honey fuel

Headed home with the velo and an partly full bottle

Behind The Camera

Henry is a freelance food and lifestyle photographer based in Kent, England.

"I never considered being a photographer until I accidentally installed Instagram 4 years ago, and my passion for the discipline has never stopped growing since. I am inspired by tone and texture, whether it be the grain of the wooden spoons in shooting, or the bark of a nearby Kentish woodland."

What Inspires Henry About Kent, England?

I have moved house once since we first got here; from a traditional Jacobean home to a 1930's farm building, and I'm scheduled to move once again in the Autumn, this time to a 1980's bungalow. I don't mind moving. The diversity of the Kentish landscape is so unique, that you have only to drive for five minutes until you find something completely different.

In my freelance work and my education, I am constantly inspired and fuelled by my surroundings. The light through woodland leaves or the waves against the chalk cliff face motivate me to shoot or paint, even if at home I'm only working with pie or vegetables.
